HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region Inc.
The Waterloo Region affiliate was incorporated in 1988 and received charitable status a year later. Since then, the organization has consistently been regarded as a leader in the provision of decent, affordable housing throughout the community. Indeed, in just over 20 years, HFHWR has successfully build and/or renovated over 84 homes for hard-working and deserving families.
In 2006, HFHWR set off in a new direction with the start of its very first condominium project, a 19-unit townhome development located on Cherry Street in downtown Kitchener. This project was substantially completed in 2009. In 2010, HFHWR will begin work on a new, 16-unit townhouse condominium project on Howe Drive in Kitchener.
Mulit-family dwellings will continue to play a key and increasingly prominent role in HFHWR's future building plans. Faced with rising land prices and escalating property values, HFHWR has adopted and will contine to evolve. Yet in spit of this change, the organization remains committed to assisting families in need with the life changing opportunity of buying decent, affordable housing.
